ICAEW – ‘Creating Business Opportunities in Hard Times’ – business conference

We attended yesterday’s conference as a member of the IoD, held at the AirSpace Conference Centre, Imperial War Museum, Duxford, organised by ICAEW.

The morning started off with a presentation setting the context of the current economy and what it means for business, by Graeme Leach, Chief Economist of IoD.  This was followed by ‘Building your brand and reputation’ by Mike Ashton, Managing Director, ABCG.  Next we had ‘creating and maintaining high performance’ using Formula 1 as a case study, by Professor Mark Jenkins of Cranfield School of Management, ending with ‘Building a bigger market – exporting’ by UKTI.

After lunch there were 4 workshops which were: Raising Finance, Effective Boardroom, Tech trends that make or break a business and Social Media in Practice. The event was chaired by broadcaster Rachel Sloane with 14 exhibitors, most of them concerned with an aspect of support for business.

Upon close we were kindly invited to view the magnificent planes within the museum which we took up.  All in all a good day!
